Welcome
to Explorers. The groups meet to visit new places in Jakarta and
the surrounding area, and to discover Indonesian culture and traditions.
Activities include tours to historic venues, talks on a wide range
of topics and the chance to observe and take part in many Indonesian
daily activities. It is a great way to make new friends and experience
things you might be unable to do if you were on your own. To
join Explorers, you must be a member of the Indonesian Heritage
Society.
There are three sessions of Weekly
Explorers every year - starting in September, February
and June. The members are divided into
groups of approximately 20 people. Sessions run for a ten week period
and are held on Wednesdays. The tours may last a few hours or the
whole day depending on the particular activity planned. Each Explorer
is asked to organise one tour per session, with a partner. All the
approved tours are well documented and research information can
be found in the Heritage Library. Group leaders offer additional
advice and assistance to tour organisers.
The Fortnightly Explorers
are divided into groups of approximately 20 people and run on a
very similar basis however only meeting every other week.
Monthly Explorers join 1 large group, for
10 months of the year a tour is advertised and members of the group
sign up for the tour if it is of interest.
There is also a weekend explorers group-
meets approximately once per month on the weekend so spouses can
join in the fun. For more info, contact Explorers

If you are interested in joining the Explorers,
please come to our Annual Welcome Meeting to sign up on Thursday,
September 6, at 09:30 in Erasmus Huis, Jl. HR Rasuna Said Kav. S-3,
Kuningan, Tel. 021 524 1069. Please fill out the Explorers Registration
Form (see below), print it out, and bring it to our Explorers booth
at the entrance of Erasmus Huis. The Explorers Organizational Meetings
will be held on Wednesday, September 19, and Thursday, September
20, in the library of the Indonesian Heritage Society. We will send
you a note with more details advising you of the meeting time once
you have registered as an Explorer. We are looking forward to seeing
you at the Annual Welcome Meeting and, of course, at our fantastic
Explorers Tours.
