Heritage Tours
Heritage
Tours, formerly known as Study Tours, offer members a chance
to travel to well researched destinations within the archipelago
with a group of like-minded people who have a particular interest
in the area being visited. These tours typically focus on cultural,
historical and geographic themes. Tours vary in duration from
3 days to 2 weeks.
Travel Club operates under the auspices
of Heritage Tours. Club participation is open to any IHS member
interested in travel within the archipelago. Club members actively
share ideas to research, plan and promote tours. Travel Club
members also receive training in Heritage Tours policies and
procedures.
Prior to a tour, a preliminary meeting is conducted at which
time each tour member learns about the tour itinerary and chooses
a subject pertaining to the destination. Each tour member then
researches their chosen topic and writes a brief report before
departure. A tour booklet is created which includes these research
reports. This booklet is used during the tour and a copy is
submitted to the IHS library.
