Last Saturday of every month
Museum Projects offers the chance for volunteers to learn about the heritage of Indonesia by actively supporting
Recent and ongoing activities :
Museum Nasional (http://www.museumnasional.or.id/)
- Translation of label texts and signage (intermittent)
Jakarta History Museum (Museum Sejarah Jakarta) (http://museumsejarahjakarta.org/)
- Inventory and descriptions of several colonial-era collections (completed)
Textile Museum (Museum Tekstil) (http://museumtekstiljakarta.com)
- Assistance with preparation of a book on highlights of the collection (completed)
Maritime Museum (Museum Bahari) (http://museumbahari.org/)
- Assistance with preparation of an exhibition on the Uitkijk towers (starting!)
Part of our activities depend on requests from the museums and cannot be planned long in advance. For translation and text editing we work with a pool of volunteers who are called upon when needed. For other museum activities volunteers have to acquaint themselves with the topics at hand through library and/or internet research. As most of us are non-specialists we are also keen to get into contact with outside specialists for more in-depth knowledge.
